
Volume home builders in PSL install the cheapest sliding door hardware that meets minimum Florida Building Code requirements. Chrome-plated steel bearings corrode in Florida humidity. The timeline repeats across every PSL development: doors work perfectly on move-in day, become progressively harder to operate by year three, and require two-hand force by year five. The rollers are grinding metal-on-metal at that point, damaging both the bearings and the track simultaneously.
Tradition (34987). The master-planned community in western PSL features homes built from 2005 to the present. Tradition Town Center and surrounding phases all use standard builder-grade sliding doors. We service multiple Tradition homes weekly, often three to four in the same neighborhood during a single trip.
St. Lucie West (34986). One of PSL's most established communities with homes dating from the 1990s through 2010s. Older St. Lucie West homes often have original rollers that are 15-25 years old - well past their service life. These doors are typically stuck, grinding, or jumping off the track.
Torino and PGA Village (34953, 34986). Newer construction with the same builder-grade issues as Tradition. Many homes have multiple sliding doors - master bedroom, living room, guest room - all built with identical cheap components that fail on the same timeline.
Sandpiper Bay and River Park. Established PSL communities with aging sliding door hardware that needs modernization. We upgrade original equipment to current commercial-grade standards.
When we replace builder-grade hardware in PSL homes, we install heavy-duty tandem roller assemblies with sealed stainless steel bearings, reinforced-gauge aluminum tracks, and high-impact polymer roller housings. The upgrade adds $30-50 per door compared to replacing with the same cheap parts, but the hardware lasts 12-15 years instead of 3-5. For multi-door PSL homes, we offer package pricing when three or more doors are serviced in the same visit.
